Visual research (2014)

After a media-hype during the summer of 2013, NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden had almost fully faded from mainstream news reporting by the beginning of 2014. Snowden’s case illustrates how existing news formats facilitate short-lived news sensations.

News for eternity goes against this trend. It discusses the value of news in relation to the value of art, by placing news in a museological context. The project moves beyond passive sensation, onto active and critical perception. The collection of the News for Eternity virtual museum calls into question what news is important (enough) to make it into the museum, and what is not.
