Stereotypes That Work

In an increasingly polarised and conflict driven public debate, designers are to tred lightly when representing groups and communities in their visual works. Based on ethnographic research in Paris, this project calls into question how sustained visual representation are used in storefront signs throughout the city; in what way do they sustain social and cultural divisions, and in what way do they actually bypass them?
