Visual Lexicon of News Reporting (2014-present)

News organisations have a distinct way in which they communicate with their audiences. Through the design of graphics, typography and through the use of symbols, icons and colours these organisations elicit feelings of urgency and importance.

This visual lexicon is a the result of a research project on news aesthetics and the presentation of news. It captures the different visual tactics and techniques of news organisations; some obvious, some more hidden.
